New Clarets signing Lee Grant insists he is determine to push good pal Brian Jensen all the way at Turf Moor.

Grant, 27, today signed a three-year deal from Sheffield Wednesday to swap League One for a Championship promotion push with the Clarets.

And Grant, who spent two months on loan with Burnley in 2005, is adamant he has returned to Turf Moor to challenge for the number one spot.

He said: "It was quite a short stay first time round; let's hope this one will be a much longer affair.

It's nice to be back because it's a huge challenge and one I am really looking forward to.

"As a player at 27, you want to try and test yourself and the Championship is the place I'd like to be and looking up rather than looking down.

"I think Burnley is the ideal opportunity to do that."

"Brian has done fantastic for the club, but hopefully I can get the opportunity to come in and play.

"Hopefully now I can come here, play at a good stadium in front of some great fans and have some great times."

Grant insisted he has no hesitation in signing on the dotted line once former Hillsborough boss Brian Laws made him a target.

He said: "Speculation was there before anything was actually going on between the two clubs.

"For me, personally, it happened quite quickly.

"I've been at Sheffield Wednesday for a long time. I had three really good years there and I know last year didn't end up the way I would have liked.

"On a personal basis I still had a good year and picked up some awards so that was nice, but I'm leaving with a heavy heart because I had a very good relationship with the players, staff and obviously the fans there."
