Chris McCann suffered a massively frustrating 2009/10 season as his first taste of the top flight was cruelly ruined by injury.
The highly regarded midfielder started the first six games of the campaign before a knee injury sustained in September all but ended his season.
The former Clarets' junior made a brief comeback in January but a further knee problem meant surgery and a further spell on the sidelines with his absence badly hitting Burnley's survival bid.
McCann, who is closing in on 150 starts for the Clarets, made his return for the reserves in April and will be looking to be back fully fit to play a big part in the Clarets' Championship campaign in 2010/11.
The young Irishman was a key figure when Burnley clinched promotion in 2009, scoring eight times in 58 appearances during the season and winning the club's Young Player of the Year award for the third season running.
McCann's importance to the team was rewarded in August 2009 when he signed a new two-year contract running to the summer of 2011.
